Welcome to Hydra Polymers

The unique architecture of our branched polymers allows for controlled performance and formulation characteristics. This platform technology can be used to create new opportunities and value for commercial materials.

Hydra Polymers Ltd was formed in 2007 and is based in Liverpool in the UK. The Company is a spin-off from Unilever plc and is focused on providing products derived from dendritic vinyl polymer technology, to include (meth)acrylic, styrenic and polyurethane systems.

Hydra technology exploits the formation and use of new branched polymers. Polymers are used in a wide variety of everyday applications, from paints to lubricants and pharmaceuticals to cosmetics. Although Hydra polymers use the same building blocks as commercially available polymers, their structure and shape produce superior properties.

Hydra polymers have dramatically reduced solution viscosities and improved adhesion when compared to commercial materials. Low solution viscosity is critical, as polymer-users facing increasing regulatory issues require higher performance from less material.
