Polymeric Dispersants
Hydra Polymers has developed a unique range of polymeric dispersants, designed to work with a range of pigments, including organic and inorganic materials.
The products exhibit the following features:
- Significantly increased stability
- Low dosage levels
- Lower viscosity than currently available materials
- Low and high molecular weight (2 – 200 kDa)
- Solvent and water-based applications
- Use with a wide range of pigments
- Good compatibility with various systems
- No REACH requirements
Improved Stability
The unique architectures of Hydra Dispersants provide superior performance and allow for lower dosage levels than may be typical, whilst maintaining formulation stability. The performance enhancement can be significant as is shown.

Low Dosage
The stability of Hydra Dispersants means that they can be used at significantly lower levels than other dispersants. The enhanced performance and low dosage levels make Hydra Dispersants a cost effective choice for pigment dispersion.
Wide Range of Molecular Weights
The Hydra Technology allows for extremely high molecular weights whilst still exhibiting low viscosities. Uniquely, Hydra Dispersants can be made from 2 kDa up to 200 kDa whilst still being free flowing in solution.
Hydra Polymers
- Stabilise pigments against flocculation and sedimentation.
- Demonstrate low mill-base viscosities at low shear rates.
- Can prevent pigment settling over three months at 50 °C.
- Hydra Polymer dispersants show low solution viscosities.
Low Viscosity
The Hydra technology provides low viscosity materials when compared to current commercially available dispersants.

The combination of low solution viscosity and excellent pigment dispersion creates mill-base solutions with very low viscosities.

Product Range
Hydra Dispersants have been designed to disperse phthalocyanine, quinacridone and azo-class pigments in water-borne and solvent-borne systems.
